A 6-year-old girl from Sheridan has died following an incident with a school bus that took place on Monday, April 22nd.
The student was reported to be running after a school bus to attempt it to stop without leaving her outside of a Sheridan elementary school. She became caught on the bus and drug underneath it. The student was flown to a hospital in the Denver-area where she was put into a medically induced coma.
According to a statement from Sheridan County School District #1 Superintendent Craig Dougherty, the student’s grandparents confirmed her death Monday and passed on their gratitude for the school and community’s support during their difficult time.
Dougherty said, “this is a very difficult time for their family as well as for our staff, students and community. Please keep this grieving family and others impacted by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.”
