(Fremont County, WY) – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office has shared that it is aware of a phone scam currently making its rounds in the area, according to a release shared today, April 17
“Fremont County Dispatchers have received numerous reports about citizens receiving a scam call from someone identifying himself as Sgt. John Cooper with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office,” the release states. “He reports that you have a bench warrant for your arrest for missing jury duty.”
The FCSO is advising that the calls are coming from a phone with a 307 area code, and that folks should simply hang up if contacted by the scammer.
