In a release issued by the Shoshone Business Council, members are commending Wyoming Governor Matt Mead for working with them during his time in office.
Mead’s term limit will expire this year making way for one of four current candidates for the office. Mark Gordon, Mary Throne, Rex Rammell, and Lawrence Struempf are all currently vying for the nomination.
The Shoshone Business Council noted in the release that their relationship with the state of Wyoming has “had a tumultuous past” and that it has been “historically adversarial since its admission as a state.”
The note says that Governor Mead has presented “exemplary leadership” through “challenging times.” He assisted efforts with the Tribal Liaison Program Tribal License Plate, and American Indian Education Program. He also signed resolutions including the “Federal responsibility for American Indian Health Care” and the “150th Commemoration of the 1868 Fort Bridger Treaty.”
