(Shoshoni, WY) – The Shoshoni Police Department recently seized “1.2lbs of methamphetamine, illegal firearms, and various other amounts of controlled substances and contraband,” according to a recent release from SPD Chief Chris Konija.
The efforts were a part of “Operation Crossroads,” which was initiated on April 9 of this year, with the purpose to “disrupt, diminish and detour the distribution of controlled substances; specifically methamphetamine within Shoshoni,” the release states.
The release goes on to inform that on May 9, the SPD “submitted probable cause information for three residential search warrants and two arrest warrants to be issued, which were granted in connection with the distribution of methamphetamine.”
Operation Crossroads was then executed on May 14 by the SPD in conjunction with the Riverton Police Department, where three simultaneous residential search warrants were served within Shoshoni, in addition to two arrest warrants for methamphetamine distribution.
Operation Crossroads resulted in the arrest of four individuals, and charges included Felony Possession of Controlled Substances – Methamphetamine, Distribution of Controlled Substances – Methamphetamine, and Possession of Methamphetamine.
The SPD did not release the names of those charged/arrested, but Chief Konija did state that an arrest log will be provided pending official charges filed by the County Attorney’s Office.
“While Operation Crossroads has ended and the objectives attained, this initial operation serves as a commitment to Shoshoni and surrounding areas that those who distribute dangerous controlled substances will be identified, found, and held accountable for the harm caused to our communities,” Chief Konija also shared in the release. “We sincerely wish that this will be the final operation conducted by the Shoshoni Police Department, however, we are waiting, watching, and will respond in the future to anyone who chooses to participate in the distribution of methamphetamine or other dangerous substances within Shoshoni in any form.”
“Local criminal charges are pending the outcome of the investigation and will be submitted to the Fremont County Attorney’s Office for formal filing of additional charges for those arrested.”
