(Shoshoni, WY) – The Fremont County School District 24 (Shoshoni) Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, in the boardroom at 404 Wrangler Way in Shoshoni.
The agenda includes a recognition for Damein Christensen, who will be receiving the Honorary American FFA Degree this year at the National FFA Convention.
“This national award recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to agriculture, agricultural education, or FFA,” the agenda states. “In particular, it honors teachers who have developed outstanding agricultural education programs that inspire and motivate students to achieve success. …
“We congratulate Damein on this well-deserved national recognition and thank him for his continued dedication to students, agriculture, and education.”
The board will receive a report from the superintendent about homeschool notification, student enrollment, and upcoming events, followed by reports from the elementary principal, secondary principal, special education director, business manager, and human resources.
Under action items, the board will consider approving out-of-state travel for FFA not to exceed $4,000.
The board will also consider approving going out to bid for an induction counter with suppression for Culinary Arts.
There are seven personnel items on the agenda:
- approve internal advertising for an elementary after-school program coordinator
- approve extra-duty assignments for 2025-2026
- approve hiring Jessica Kelsey as the junior high boys basketball head coach for 2025-2026
- approve hiring Michelle Rambo as the junior high boys basketball assistant coach for 2025-2026
- approve hiring Marty Weber as the high school girls basketball assistant coach for 2025-2026
- approve hiring Melissa Metzler as high school girls basketball statistician/bookkeeper and female representative for the coaching staff to help meet requirements of Wyoming Statute 21-3-137
- approve hiring Leah Williams as special education paraprofessional for 2025-2026
Under policy review, the board will consider job descriptions for the home reading coordinator, the after-school program coordinator, and the Title I director on first reading and for the school nurse/CNA instructor and the Title I community events and communication coordinator on second reading.
The meeting will be preceded by a new staff reception at 5 p.m.
