Back to back to back, that’s three in a row for the Lander Lady Tigers. Lander dominated the Class 3-A girls’ division in the Wyoming Track Championships over a sketchy weather weekend in Casper to win their third consecutive state title.
Using a mix of gold medal individual performances, two relay titles, and key placings in many events, the Lady Tigers were able to outdistance a fast Worland Lady Warrior squad 143 to 121.
Junior Paisley Hollingshead won four individual titles. She swept the hurdles and won both the high and long jumps.
Sophomore distance phenom Dorothy Jensen ran to gold in the 800, 1600, and 3200 meter relays, then anchored the first-place 4×800 meter relay with teammates Daisy Goklish, Savannah Taylor, and Katy Anderson. The quartet set a new class 3-A record in the process, running an impressive 9:37.49.
The all-class state record holder in the shot put, Lander senior Adelyn Anderson, won the event again but was unable to compete in the discus, where she led competitors from all four divisions entering the state meet.
The Lady Tigers won the 4×400 meter relay as well, behind Goklish, Ella Geismann, Ava Gerlach, and Elizabeth Gribowskas, also breaking the Class 3-A record with a time of 4:02.49.
Goklish was especially tough in the 400 and 800-meter finals. In the 800, she placed second, kicking past two Cody runners to finish with silver.
Goklish, Gesimann, and Gerlach tallied a lot of points in the 400 as well with a 4,5,6 finish.
On the boys’ side, Cody West and Logan Milek tallied all the open running events points with West placing in both hurdle events and Milek in the 800-, 1600-, and 3200- meter runs.
Lander senior Gavin Romer was second in the shot put. Finn McFadden was fourth in the long jump, and Lincoln Hitchcock and Ryne Robinson tied for sixth in the pole vault, clearing 12-0.
The Tigers were 7th overall with 51 points.
