Wyoming Indian Elementary School students are helping spread kindness across the region.
A “Penny War” was declared to help raise money for students and families in Boyd County, Nebraska. Boyd County and the community of Spencer were significantly impacted by the March 2019 floods. A dam broke near the community contributing to a significant amount of loss and damage.
WIES students are filling jars with change to help out students that have been impacted.
“The incredible empathy that our students have shown; from watching them become teary-eyed when seeing footage of the flooding to seeing them bring in their own piggy banks has been completely heartwarming,” said Wyoming Indian Elementary’s Lindsay Curran.
WIES Principal Scott Morrow is now challenging other schools across Fremont County to join the “Penny War.” He’s hoping others will compete with Wyoming Indian to see who can raise the most money.
