28-year-old Kellen M. Sorber was sentenced this week to 44 months of imprisonment after breaking into and setting fire to the Albany County Republican Party headquarters.
Wyoming federal judge Scott Skavdahl also ordered Sorber to pay $6,200 in restitution.
Additionally, after his release, he’ll remain on supervision for three years.
The fire occurred in September 2018. Sorber, who was 27 at the time of the fire, pleaded guilty to the crime in January 2019.
He was facing up to a maximum sentence of 20-years in jail.
According to an Associated Press release, Public Defender David Weiss called the decision an act of, “sheer stupidity.”
