Your chance to hike into the English Channel mining tunnel at South Pass City is coming up.
The Wyoming mine was constructed in 1868. After little gold was found, it became abandoned. 150 years later, you’ll have a chance to explore it.
September 1st from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. tours will be offered of the tunnel.
There is a small amount of space available as each tour is limited to 6 people. Reservations are required and you can make them here.
Friends of South Pass warn those who would like to explore: The English Tunnel is in a remote spot. The hike is about 1 1/2 miles. Wear good shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting muddy.
