(Fremont County, WY) – A semi rollover reported on March 12 on WY 28 (South Pass) resulted in one fatality, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol preliminary report posted on March 16.
The deceased has been identified as 69-year-old Utah man Michael Sandrone.
The crash occurred around 5:45 PM near milepost 59 on WY 28, the report states.
According to the report narrative, Sandrone was traveling eastbound on WY-28, and while negotiating a left downhill curve, the semi began leaving the lane of travel to the right. The semi then exited the roadway to the right, tipping 90 degrees onto its passenger side. The semi continued down an embankment into a ditch, rolling the tractor upside-down.
The report states that roads were dry, but there was “severe wind” leading up to the crash, and that speed was a possible contributing factor. Sandrone was reported to have been wearing his seatbelt.
There have been 21 fatalities reported on Wyoming roadways to date in 2026.
