Spoonhunter wins Bryant/Johnson Memorial

The Berry Bryant / Kyle Johnson Memorial Cross Country Meet was held last week at the Riverton Rendezvous Site. Riverton’s Davian Spoonhunter won the boy’s division, while teammate Marshall Walton finished in 10^th.

Worland won the boy’s race with 38 points. Class 2-A Burlington was second with 62 points. Lander edged Riverton for third at 72, with 76 for the Wolverines.

Lander freshman Dorthy Jensen finished second and senior Ameya Eddy was fifth. Blue Blackburn finished in seventh for the Lady Tigers.

The meet is an annual event in memory of former Riverton standouts Berry Bryant and Kyle Johnson. Bryant was murdered as a student athlete at Northwest Community College and Johnson was one of the “Wyoming 8.” Eight members of the University of Wyoming cross country team were killed by a drunk driver.
