(Lander, WY) – The Lander School Board will hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, in the Boardroom at the Administration Building at 863 Sweetwater St. in Lander.
The agenda includes recognitions for new certified staff, the TeacherCon Awards, and Wyoming “Agriculture in the Classroom” Teacher of the Year Neil Long.
After hearing reports from board members, a student representative, and the superintendent – including enrollment and federal funding updates – the board will consider approving the consent agenda, which includes expenditures, reporting of homeschools students, and approval of surplus/disposable property.
The board will then convene into an executive session for matters related to employment of personnel.
Action items on the agenda include personnel actions and requests for use of Fremont County Board of Cooperative Educational Services funds ($4,280 to purchase fence supplies for the Lander Valley High School agriculture program and $5,250 to purchase ten ewes for the LVHS agriculture program).
The board will also consider approving monetary donations, including a $17,750 grant from the LOR Foundation to fund new concrete pads for discus at LVHS, a $5,000 grant from the Lander District Recreation Board to support Project Graduation, and a $10,000 grant from the LOR Foundation to fund expenses related to Lander Middle School’s Wind River Outdoor Education trip next month.
Finally, the board will consider approving amendments to the 2024-2025 general fund instruction budget and food service budget.
Under discussion items, the board will review policy GCQC – Resignation of Professional Staff on first reading.
The board will also discuss deleting several CKA policies on first reading to align with the district’s recently amended CKA rules.
Other discussion items on the agenda include:
- human resources job functions
- an updated draft of the climate survey for staff
- nominations for three Wyoming School Boards Association Awards
