(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton City Council began its first meeting of 2026 with the swearing-in of a new patrol officer.
“(We’ll) start things off right,” Mayor Tim Hancock said as he welcomed Riverton Police Department Chief Eric Hurtado to the podium to introduce the new officer to the council.
Gillen Faxon grew up in Casper, and he graduated from Natrona County High School in 2019 before joining the National Guard, Hurtado said.
“(He) has served in the Guard and also … one of his duties is the military funeral honors,” Hurtado said. “He enjoys hunting and fishing, and tonight he’ll be pinned by his father.”
Faxon’s mother, grandfather, brother, sister, brother-in-law, and two friends also joined him to celebrate his swearing-in this week.
