Wyoming native Kristi Racines will announce her State Auditor reelection bid in her hometown of Riverton at today’s Fremont County Republican Party Convention. As a Certified Public Accountant with 20 years of experience, she brings critical expertise and proven conservative values to a job that is not just a politician’s, but the State of Wyoming’s chief accountant. Racines said she intends to continue her high standard of excellence in financial accountability and transparency.
Racines made headlines in her first term as a staunch transparency advocate. During her first 30 days in office, she produced and turned over six years’ worth of state expenditure data, which was previously mired in a legal battle. Within six months, Kristi debuted Wyopen.gov – Wyoming’s online checkbook – with no additional cost to taxpayers. Last year, she worked with the legislature to enshrine Wyopen into state law, guaranteeing this high level of transparency for years to come.
“I’ve kept all my campaign promises, but I believe we have more work to do—and that’s why I’m seeking reelection,” said Racines. “Many hardworking Wyoming families and businesses have had to tighten their belts these last several years, and it’s fair that they expect government to do the same. Over my tenure, I have trimmed the Auditor’s Office budget by finding efficiencies and eliminating redundancies, and I was proud this year to present the lowest Auditor’s Office budget since 2004.”
Racines plans to focus on investment in infrastructure in Wyoming’s cities and towns, particularly in our smallest communities. “This is a critical investment in our children, our grandchildren, and our future. I’m asking voters to let me do my part to keep moving Wyoming forward,” said Racines. “I believe in conservative, cost-effective government that does what it should and gets out of the way. I will continue to uphold the sound and clear fiscally conservative values of Wyoming’s taxpayers.”
The Wyoming Primary Election will be held on August 18, 2026.
About Kristi Racines
Kristi’s Wyoming roots run deep. She is a 4th-generation native, born in Casper and raised in Bar Nunn, Evanston, and Riverton. Because of the opportunities found in Wyoming for her and her family, she and her husband wouldn’t raise their two children anywhere else. They are both active and avid sportsmen – hunting, hiking, and generally enjoying the state’s natural wonders. Kristi holds degrees from the University of Wyoming in accounting and Spanish in addition to being licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.
In private practice, she performed audits of Wyoming businesses, nonprofits, and governmental entities. Prior to her election as State Auditor, she worked in the judicial branch, where she served as the Chief Fiscal Officer and Director of Human Resources, preparing and managing a statewide budget of approximately 80 million dollars. She draws from this experience to make prudent and conservative decisions to ensure fiscal accountability and the security of the State’s funds. She has brought a conservative, cost-focused perspective that protects Wyoming’s financial resources and public lands to her service on the State Loan and Investment Board and the Board of Land Commissioners, and will continue to prioritize the rule of law and Wyoming’s future.
