(Dubois, WY) – Wyoming Superintendent Megan Degenfelder joined Fremont County School District 2 students and staff to celebrate Veterans Day at the National Museum of Military Vehicles in Dubois this week.
During the event, officials announced a collaborative project with the NMMV, the Wyoming Department of Education, and the University of Wyoming Malcolm Wallop Civic Engagement Program to develop a military history curriculum around World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam Wars.
Degenfelder said the initiative is “another step toward our strategic plan goal of developing citizenship for students through enhanced civic education and engagement.”
The collaboration also “aligns perfectly” with the mission of the NMMV, which “was created to help educate students on the history of American freedom,” museum founder Dan Starks said.
The WDE said the collaborative team will work with several Wyoming teachers who focus on World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam Wars in order to “define and executive” the four-piece curriculum series, which will be available for the 2025-2026 school year.
“I am grateful to Dan and the Wallop team for working to bring the museum into our Wyoming classrooms,” Degenfelder said. “It is inspiring to watch Wyoming veterans share patriotism and history with students in this amazing museum.”
