In response to concerns from local residents, the organizers of the upcoming Suicide Awareness Balloon Walk say they are modifying their previous plan to release balloons into the sky as part of the event.
The decision was made at the July 10 Pig Roast Committee meeting.
“We have decided instead that the balloons will be clipped to a provided clothesline so that everyone can read the inspiring words on them,” organizer Christian Klein said in an email shared with County 10. “I hope this is satisfactory.”
The balloons will remain on display during the event and will be collected at the conclusion of the day’s activities.
The Balloon Walk will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at McManus Park, in conjunction with the Lander Pig Roast.
