(Lost Cabin, Wyo.) – A fire at the Lost Cabin Natural Gas Processing Plant this past Sunday has shut down Train Three while an investigation has been launched.
Lysite Fire Battalion Chief Larry Allen said the call came in at 11:07 Sunday and three county fire battalions responded, from Lysite, Shoshoni, and Riverton, a total of 10 fire fighting units. He said the firefighters were released at 5:30 “or so.”
“We spent most of the time outside of the plant due to the presence of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) gas,” he said. The gas is colorless, flammable, poisonous and corrosive. “The fire was isolated and we let it burn itself out. There were no injuries but equipment was damaged in the third train.
Allen said only one train at the plant is operating, Train 1, and that Train 2 had already been shut down for maintenance.
