(Lander, WY) – The Lander Police Department has shared that a subject involved in a reported aggravated assault with a firearm and subsequent pursuit has been arrested and charged, stemming from incidents occurring today, June 4.

The Lander Police Department responded to a report of an aggravated assault with a firearm in the 100 block of Jefferson Street. Upon arrival, the officers observed a vehicle leaving the scene that matched the reported description.
As officers attempted to contact the suspect, the individual fled the area in a motor vehicle. A vehicle pursuit was initiated and continued for approximately 10 miles outside the City of Lander.
The Lander Police Department was assisted by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) during the incident. Through coordinated efforts, law enforcement personnel successfully deployed spike strips, bringing the pursuit to a safe conclusion without injury to the public, officers, or the suspect.
One adult male was taken into custody and transported to the Fremont County Detention Center. The suspect is facing multiple criminal charges related to the aggravated assault, eluding law enforcement, and other offenses resulting from the investigation. Formal charges will be determined by the Fremont County Attorney’s Office.
The investigation remains ongoing. No additional information is being released at this time.

County 10 confirmed with LPD Chief Kelly Waugh that Jaymon Shoyo is the subject who was arrested and charged.
