To Whom It May Concern,
I wanted to pass along our sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support we experienced as we passed through Riverton.
Last week, on our way back to Indiana from the Grand Tetons, our church bus broke down just outside of Riverton in Buckhorn Flats. Within minutes of being on the side of the road, Dustin from B&M Construction stopped to see if we needed help. Despite it being a Sunday afternoon, he called all the diesel mechanics he knew. Ultimately, he connected us with Michael Stanton at Mobile Messiah. Michael was so responsive and stuck with us until the problem was resolved, requiring multiple trips! He was more than we could have asked for. A special thanks to Perry’s Trucking for finding and overnighting the part for us as well and being diligent to contact us the minute our part arrived.
In the meantime, Pastor Scott Muller, his wife Janet, Randy and Carol Stelzner, and the congregation at The Christian Church of Riverton welcomed our group of five adults and fifteen high schoolers with open arms. They housed us, fed us, took us out kayaking on the river, and poured their hearts into our high schoolers like we were family. Even after we left on our 25-hour journey back home, Scott and Janet and members of the congregation checked in with us all night long until they knew we were home safe.
It seemed that everyone we encountered in the town was eager to help. Even the young man at the Subway in the Walmart chatted up our group while we loitered for hours in the Subway, waiting for the mechanic to arrive.
On our third day in Riverton, I walked your lovely heritage trail to the laundromat and stopped in at 1906 Coffee, where the owner and a regular customer chatted with me and sent me on my way with a bag of coffee and treats for my group. So Kind!
We are overwhelmed by the hospitality shown by your town. After twelve days of camping and hiking in the mountains, the adventure that stuck with our teens was the experience your town provided and how you collectively jumped in to save the day.
