(Lander, WY) – Despite the negativity directed toward Virginia Arbery, Taylor Jacobs and Scott Jensen, here’s why I support them:
- Schools are places of education, not indoctrination. Teachers must leave their social and political beliefs at home.
- Saying “teachers should be paid more” is just lip service without identifying new funding sources.
- Library funds must be reserved for books of great educational value, never displaced by garbage like “Let’s Talk About It” – a book that encourages exploring sexual fetishes through pornography and graphically promotes and demonstrates sexual deviance.
- Kids should be held accountable for their actions, even when – and maybe especially when – doing so hurts their feelings.
- The term “All Kids” should mean “ALL Kids,” not a code phrase for “trans kids”.
- All Kids should be encouraged and supported equally, without special carve outs, programs and clubs based around victimhood mentality. We need to teach kids they can reach the stars. Telling them they are victims sets them up for failure.
- No child should be forced to use a bathroom with, or play sports against, someone of the opposite sex.
- No one should be forced to use language that is not of their choosing (yes, even if it hurts someone’s feelings.)
- A psychologically vetted and extensively trained, armed staff member standing between a psychotic gunman and your child is far better than hoping the police make it there on time.
- Parents must be notified when their child experiences difficult behavioral concerns (even if they are “outed” to their parents.)
- Parents play a crucial role in the education of their children and, in doing so, are partners with the district in encouraging their kids to achieve all they can accomplish. However, they must also accept and take responsibility for their kids’ mistakes and behavioral issues.
- The district must do more than hand wringing about the increasingly difficult and dangerous drug epidemic sweeping our schools. We need board members willing to take a proactive approach.
- Trustees are elected to exercise their best judgment and should consider ALL of their constituents when facing difficult decisions – not just political activists that come to board meetings and complain the loudest.
- “Progressive” doesn’t always mean “Progress” – traditional values still play an important role in our school system.
I hope you will consider:
Choosing Scott Jensen, with his law enforcement and military background, who understands how to protect the safety of our kids. Voting for Taylor Jacobs, with her role as a school psychologist, to advise us how to best support the mental health of our students. Electing Virginia Arbery, who has instructed teachers at the highest collegiate levels, to help guide curriculum discussions.
They are what’s right for FCSD#1.
