I don’t have a sale for you today. No witty jokes or puns to attract attention and encourage you to stop in to see me, my wife Alisha, or my guys for furniture or appliances.
I want to talk about something more important. Community and Family.
I get to see so many of you throughout each year. You might buy from us, or you might not. We love our customers, but that’s sincerely not why we’re here. We’re here to support you…and we also sell stuff.
I don’t care whether you’re red or blue. I don’t care whether you’re a big spender or just here for some spoons from our kitchen section.
I don’t care whether you say “6-7” when you’re looking at a new chair for gaming, or whether you say “howdy do!” when you’re picking out a patterned living room set with leather and little pine trees on it.
I don’t even care – really and truly – if you come in and say “I’m going to go look at the place in Riverton and maybe I’ll come back…” Come back, or don’t, it’s fine with me.
I mean, I’d love it if you bought from me. I’ll give you honest prices and the best service we can offer – no matter who you are, where you live, or what you’re buying.
You get the theme? There’s only one thing Alisha and I really care about – you. Our Community.
This Thanksgiving, despite all that divides us, one thing brings us together – Community.
Whether you’re single or have a big family – You matter.
Whether you’re deeply religious or sleep in on Sunday – You matter.
Whether you’re an athlete or got straight A’s, whether you’re a business owner, or a server at a local restaurant, young or old….
…You matter, and I’m thankful for you.
“But Shane, you don’t know me…I don’t REALLY matter to you! Why are you writing this thing and pushing it out as an ad?”
It doesn’t matter. If you live in Fremont County, you matter to me. You matter to my family and my employees. You matter to our Community.
Our local Community matters. Amazon won’t be there for your sister’s fundraiser as she fights cancer. Home Depot in Casper won’t buy a Christmas wreath or a candy bar to help your student go on a class trip. Hello Fresh won’t cater your Christmas party or donate food for a Community Thanksgiving meal. Mark Zuckerberg isn’t going to the parade on Main Street.
I could keep going, but you get the idea. There’s a reason I end all my ads with “turn around, shop in town.” It’s not only because I would love to see you in Gamble’s and sell you something. It’s because this place and the people in it are special.
We have lots of problems, don’t get me wrong. But We. Show. Up. For each other. We need each other – all of each other.
So, this Thanksgiving, while I’m sitting around a table with family, I’ll have all of you with me. Thank you for supporting Gamble’s this last year, but also thank you for supporting the other guys. Thank you for joining a club, going a sports event, turning on one of local radio stations, reading local news, eating at a local restaurant, showing up to a City Council or School Board Meeting, or even just saying “hello” while you’re out and about…
…you make Fremont County a place to be thankful for.
