The Northern Arapaho Powwow starts Friday night at the Arapaho Powwow Grounds (Left Hand Ditch Road, Arapahoe) at 6 p.m., with vendors and Native American arts and crafts on site.
Bring your own chair to experience the singing, drumming, and dances of Wind River, and check out the Powwow’s new “community closet” that will lend regalia for the day. If you want to participate in the Fun Run, it starts 10 a.m. on Saturday, sponsored by the Wind River Cares Diabetes Awareness Program.
A multi-day horseshoe tournament will also begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. There’s no entry fee, but there’s $1500 in prize money up for grabs between the singles, women’s, and co-ed team competitions.
🍅 And don’t forget to see what garage sales there are this weekend, or what’s at the farmers’ markets in Riverton and Lander.
Friday:
☕ The Veterans Coffeehouse – Every weekday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Lander Community Veterans Resource Center (190 Custer Street, Lander). Enjoy a free cup of coffee and spend some time with a veteran.
Building Terrestrial Foodwebs Through Native Plant Establishment – The Friends of Dubois Badlands host Dr. Michael Curran at Dennison Lodge (909 W. Ramshorn, Dubois) starting at 7 p.m. Listen to how to restore native ecosystems by building up the insect population.
🆓 FREE EVENT: Friday Night Dance – Stop by the Riverton Senior Center (303 East Lincoln Ave, Riverton) from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a dance with guest band “Three Fiths.”
Saturday:
Labor Day Ranch Rodeo – Starts at 9 a.m. at the Pavillion fairgrounds (424 S Main St., Pavillion).
🚶 Hike the Dubois Badlands – Starting at 9 a.m., meet at the Bighorn Sheep Center (10 Bighorn Lane, Dubois) for a hike with Dr. Michael Curran concentrating on plants and their insect pollinators.
Jam Time – The Lander Art Center (258 Main St., Lander) is hosting an open jam from 10 a.m. until Noon. All instruments, ages, and skill levels welcome.
🧘 Motion Bliss Academy and Inner Bliss Yoga Open House – From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. you can stop by Motion Bliss Academy (316 E Main St Riverton) to check out their facilities, interact with instructors, participate in exciting raffles and giveaways, and shop their collection of dance attire and footwear.
The Rustic Pine’s Rustic on the Rocks – Starting at 3 p.m. in the Frontier Room (119 E Ramshorn, Dubois), take part in a wine and spirits tasting, along with Jared Rogerson & The Rodeo Wreck Band. Cost is $15 / per person.
🆓 FREE EVENT: Shoshoni Hot Summer Nights Car Show – Starting at noon at the Town Plaza, check out the classic cars and spend a day in the park with crafts, vendors, a dunk tank, cornhole, bounce houses, and live music.
Sunday:

🐷 Midvale Fire Department Hog Roast – Starts at 4 p.m. at Midvale’s firehall (1554 Missouri Valley Rd., Riverton). Midvale Fire Department will be hosting this fundraiser with Missouri Valley Fire Department, Pavillion Volunteer Firefighters, Morton Kinnear Fire Department, and the Fremont County Fire Protection District.
Labor Day Golf for Hospice Tournament – Starts 9 a.m. on Sunday at the Riverton Country Club (4275 Country Club Dr., Riverton) golf course. The fundraiser supports Help for Health hospice care and continues through Labor Day. Cost is $350 per team.
