History will ride again in Thermopolis, June 12-14!
“Trailblazer Days – Opening the Last Frontier” is a three-day celebration honoring the spirit and culture of the American West. It’s part of the statewide Wyoming 250 celebration for America’s 250th anniversary.
This living history demonstration is built around 16 Mule Johnson, the freighter who helped shape the town’s famously wide streets. Spend your weekend learning about Thermopolis history and enjoying good food and company!
The main event on Saturday is a non-motorized parade featuring a working 16-mule jerk line hitch pulling freight wagons through downtown Thermopolis, with stagecoaches, buggies, and wagons galore! Also on Saturday, in addition to a mule demonstration at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds, the Hot Springs County Museum will be hosting dinner, drinks, and exhibits.
Sunday head to Hot Springs State Park to honor the original Trailblazers with a free trek to Legend Rock and a free Bison BBQ!

- 1 p.m. – Bison Burger BBQ (Washakie Shelter)
- 2 p.m. – Presentation on the local Buffalo Herd and on the Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative
