Three-day Mending Broken Hearts workshop set for Feb. 12-14 in Riverton

(Riverton, WY) – A three-day community healing workshop is scheduled for Feb. 12-14 at the Riverton Branch Library, 1330 W. Park Ave.

The Mending Broken Hearts program “provides culturally based healing from grief, loss, and Intergenerational Trauma,” according to a flyer for the event, which will be led by Certified Peer Specialists from the White Buffalo Recovery Center.

It also “explores strategies for reconnecting with our loved ones,” including the “Ancestors within,” who “are also provided the opportunity for healing,” the flyer states. 

“The foundation for this healing process is based in traditional cultural ceremonies and teachings, and on the importance of forgiveness,” the flyer says. “The goal is for the individual to reconnect with the culture, with their identity, with family members (living and deceased), and to complete those relationships where important things were left unsaid or where important things were left undone.”

The group is restricted to 20 individuals “committed to attending all three days of training from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day,” the flyer states. 

“Attendance for all three days is essential,” Certified Peer Specialist Luke Brown said in an email promoting the “highly recommended workshop for everyone.” 

“Previous attendees have recently gone through the workshop a second time, and we hope any others will do the same if you wish. (Or) perhaps you signed up and were not able to attend, this is an opportunity to try again. Everyone is welcome.”
