August 22, 2017 thousands of tourists arrived across Wyoming to marvel at a solar eclipse. For many, a once in a lifetime experience.
Here’s a quick look back at some of the sights around Fremont County.

Ellen flew in to SLC and then drove with her friend here.This distinguished group of visitors from New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, Colorado, New York and Wyoming gathered at Midvale and began watching the eclipse as the moon started slipping in front of the sun.This family from Rock Springs came in Sunday night and found a great spot for all of their family members and three vehicles.Mike and Cindy Workman, Sam Karaya and Luke Workman scored some tee-shirts at the Pavillion Town Park.Andre Wilson of Nottingham, England, UK, ended up in Pavillion after a trip to Yellowstone and Cody. He said he could hardly wait for the event, which he said was akin to a religious experience.This visitor was working on his laptop at the Pavillion Town Park Monday morning.The WGFD Ocean Lake access was filled with campers, tents and RVs. Some 100+ folks were camped out there.Greg and Anne McGuffey from Flagstaff, Arizona, found a great place to set up their telescope and binoculars at Ocean Lake.Jacob Denkins from Florida (via Colorado Springs) was happy to be in a good place for today’s viewing.Tony of Lander, Zack of Minnesota and Nick of Vermont found a camping spot just west of Pavillion off of Highway 134.The Wyoming Game and Fish Department answered questions and directed folks where to park and camp around ocean Lake.Every available space at the airport was used to park incoming planes.
