It wasn’t quite a ride on the firetruck, but the Lander boys and girls made the most of the Class 3-A State Golf Championships held at the Rochelle Ranch Course in Rawlins. The Tiger girls brought home the runner-up trophy and the boys also placed second.
Douglas ran away with the girls’ title with a score of 554, but the Lady Tigers held off Cody for second 605 to 612 behind top 10 finishes from Keigann Watson and Siara Espinosa.
Watson finished second with a two-day score of 179, and Espinosa 10th at 198. Teammate Charlotte Schelle was 23 with a total of 228.
The Tigers were paced by a state runner-up finish by Sequeil Lozer with a score of 155, Hunter Kihn was fourth at 159. Both golfers earned all-state honors via their top 10 finish.
Wheatland won the boys crown behind five players in the top 10 with a 554 team score. The Tigers tallied 671 for a solid second place finish ahead of third place Worland.
The Tigers and Lady Tigers were coached by Mike Watson.
