(Lander, WY) – The Lander Tigers and Lady Tigers got a jump on the weekend with a Thursday home duel against Worland. The Tiger boys handled the Warriors 38-30 with eight matches wrestled and many of the remaining weights scored via forfeit points.
The girls were edged by the Lady Warriors 24-22 in a deceptive score. Lander won three of the four matches wrestled.
Lander’s Andie Gibson had the fastest pin for either the boys or girls with a 24 second win over Worland’s Lylah Geis at 140 pounds.
“The boys overcame great odds giving up several weight classes due to injuries and other circumstances,” Lander assistant coach,” Jeramie Prine said. “To start the dual Worland had 24 points and Lander had 0. We only lost one match. It was a great comeback against the odds.”
In a dominant performance, the Tigers won seven of the eight matches wrestled, five of them by pins.
Landon Jones had the most entertaining match of the evening, outscoring Worland’s Bronson Newell 13-10 at 150 pounds.
Colin McWilliams built a 17-0 in just over a minute in his match against Ryu Moreno at 132 pounds to win by technical fall at 1:03
The Tigers and Lady Tigers have a break this weekend.
