Lander and Riverton mixed it up on the mat Thursday night with the Wolverines edging the Tigers 39-37 in team points, but Lander won seven of the 11 matches wrestled with Riverton picking up 18 points via forfeits.
Most of the matches ended in pins, but there were three that went the distance.
At 150 pounds, Landon Jones won by major decision 16-4 over Riverton’s Travis Hurtado. It was closer at 157, where Landon Withrow of Riverton won a 9-6 decision over Sawyer Nachazel. At 285 pounds, Tiger Hayden St. Clair decisioned Riverton’s Connor Shoopman 4-1.
In the girls’ division, Lander won four of the five matches with a team score of 21-3.
The best match on the girls’ side was at 120 pounds were Kendal Kostreva outlasted Riverton’s Kaebri Yorgason 6-4.
Hallie Cooper won Riverton’s lone match at 100 pounds via an 8-1 decision over Taylor Freeman.
