(Fremont County, WY) – The Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center is reporting “Considerable” avalanche conditions around Togwotee Pass as of today, Dec. 26th. Recent heavy snow and strong winds have created an unstable snowpack, making avalanches more likely in steep, wind-loaded terrain.
Avalanche danger in the Togwotee Pass forecast area is rated “Considerable” at most elevations.
Triggering an avalanche is likely on steep, wind-affected slopes. Natural avalanches are possible, and human-triggered slides are a serious risk. Backcountry travel in advanced terrain should be reconsidered until conditions stabilize.
