Local corgi, Zappa, out-raced the competition at the first-ever Pine Bluffs Corgi Derby earlier this month.
The event in southeast Wyoming was hosted by the Pine Bluffs Distilling Company and featured 26 corgis.
Lander veterinarian Lannie Hamilton is Zappa’s owner. The “Lander Corgi Racing Team” brought a few dogs to participate in the adorable event, including Zappa’s mother. Zappa defeated her in one of the early rounds before taking the title.
Pine Bluffs Distilling says they hope the event becomes an annual tradition near the Kentucky Derby.
