(Casper, WY) – After suffering the injustice of losing their home tournament, the Strannigan Classic, Riverton’s boys and girls basketball teams combined for a 1-7 weekend in Casper at the inaugural Wyoming Sports Ranch Classic.
The girls opened with a close loss to Class 3-A Worland, 48-42, before running into the top-ranked Class 4-A Lady Broncs of Sheridan. Sheridan handled Riverton 51-24.
The best game of the tournament among both boys and girls’ teams came in double-overtime loss by the Lady Wolverines to the Lady Bulldogs of Lovell, 66-60.
Riverton finished the tournament with a 52-34 loss to Class 3-A Worland.
The boys fared one game better than the girls with a 1-3 overall mark.
Riverton dropped a close 56-53 decision to Laramie in their opener before running into a physical, talented Sheridan Bronc team that overpowered the Wolverines 73-46.

Riverton faced defending Class 3-A champion Lovell in their third game. The Bulldogs are a solid team with size, range, and speed. That beat Riverton 71-53.
In the finale, the Riverton boys picked up their first win of the season over the Class 3-A Worland Warriors in a close contest, 52-49.
Both the Wolverines and the Lady Wolverines continue the tournament portion of their seasons this weekend.
