(Fremont County, WY) – With teams entering “zero week,” the first WyoPreps.com Coaches & Media football poll has been released.
Two local teams will start the year in the top five, both in class 3A. The Riverton Wolverines are exactly where they spent most of last year, number three. The Lander Tigers, despite finishing in the top four last year, will start the 2026 campaign ranked number five.
Class 3A Top Five:
- Star Valley
- Cody
- Riverton
- Jackson
- Lander
Star Valley is no surprise at number one. The Braves have won four consecutive 3A titles and will start the year as the favorite.
In class 4A, the defending champion Sheridan Broncs took 15 of 17 first place votes. Last year’s runner-up Campbell County is hoping to contest with the Broncs in 2026. Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central are both expected to have good seasons as well.
Class 2A’s runner-ups are the preseason number one, Big Horn. Last year’s champions Mountain View will start the preseason ranks at number two. Lovell, Torrington, Cokeville and Thermopolis are expected to contend.
In 1A 9-man, Pine Bluffs begins the year at the top. Greybull and Rocky Mountain are number two and three. Wyoming Indian did pick up one vote, but are left outside of the top five.
Dubois would be sixth if you counted that far in 1A 6-man with the Rams hoping to break through this year. Last year’s second place Burlington Huskies start the year on top with Little Snake River a close second.
