(Riverton, WY) – Two local students were recognized as top fundraisers this month through the American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge at Willow Creek Elementary School.
“Your generosity and hard work made a meaningful impact,” AHA School Engagement Director Aubree Kledaras told the students during a Riverton School Board meeting last week. “Thank you for putting your heart – pun intended – into this mission. We are so, so proud of all that you’ve accomplished.”
Kledaris presented certificates of recognition to both elementary schoolers: Oakley, who placed 13th in the state by raising $831.25, and Parker, who placed 19th in the state by raising $715.66.
The money will help support “life-saving research, education, and care for those affected by heart disease and stroke,” Kledaris said.
The Kids Heart Challenge “is about more than fundraising” though, she added.
“It is about leadership, compassion, and building healthy communities – as well as safe communities, because these two students also learned the life-saving skill of hands-only CPR,” Kledaris said, expressing gratitude to the Willow Creek administrators who helped coordinate the Kids Heart Challenge.
“Thank you (for) inspiring the next generation of lifesavers.”
