(FORT WASHAKIE, WY) — The University of Wyoming Chief Washakie Memorial Scholarship Committee will host the Native American Scholarship and Awards Banquet at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Fort Washakie School. Community members, families, students, and supporters are invited to attend this special evening honoring leadership, education, and achievement.
The event will feature a dinner, scholarship and awards presentations, keynote speakers, and live entertainment by The Real Native Soul, a musical duo that combines storytelling and cultural connection.
“This event is about honoring our students, recognizing outstanding leadership, and strengthening our community through education and culture,” said Zedora Enos, founder and board member of the Chief Washakie Foundation.
The ceremony celebrates students receiving scholarships, as well as distinguished leaders whose contributions have made a lasting impact on the community. The Chief Washakie Foundation established three endowments to fund scholarships for students who want to pursue higher education at any university of their choice. Chief Washakie Distinguished Leadership Awards were created to honor individuals who exemplify the leadership qualities Chief Washakie held.
This special celebration, now in its seventh year, will recognize excellence, inspire future generations, and bring the community together.
The public is encouraged to attend and support the scholarship recipients and honorees.
