At 8:52 a.m. on Sunday, March 17th the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Fremont County Sheriff’s, Riverton Police Department, EMS, and Riverton Fire Department were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident north of Riverton.
A vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a power pole near the intersection of Country Acres Rd. and Highway 789/26, ultimately winding up in an embankment.
According to Wyoming Highway Patrol Lt. Travis Hauser, the driver was headed on Highway 789 southbound toward Riverton. The driver may have received a GPS notification telling them to turn onto County Acres Rd. While attempting to turn right, the vehicle did not slow down to an appropriate enough speed to navigate the turn.
Hauser noted the driver was taken to SageWest Riverton where they were treated and released. The extent of their injuries was not released, as is standard protocol.
Several area residents experienced interruptions with their electricity for roughly two hours after the incident. A new power pole was installed and the line was repaired Sunday.
