(Riverton, WY) – Christmas may be just a little bit merrier for Riverton boys and girls after a generous gift by David Holakowski, Founder of Wyoming Taxi, to the Boys and Girls Club of Riverton on Monday. He donated 300 comics and 525 toys to the program at a total value of $15,300.
Wyoming Taxi opened in Riverton last January as a business with a purpose. Holakowski a United States Air Force veteran and a truck driver for the last 15 years saw a need in Fremont County.
“When I came off the road, I saw that there wasn’t much option for transportation,” Holakowski said. “I started another cab company with the community in mind. I always heard people complain that (other ride services) were cash only. I wanted to start a Venmo, PayPal, credit card option. People are happy with it, and that was my goal.”
“I saw over the summer that the Boys and Girls Club was taking over the school. There were a lot of kids going. I collected toys over the year, some from my personal collection, Funko Toys, like bobble heads, based on DC, Marvel and Disney characters,” Holakowski said. “I’ve collected them over the years and sold them pre-covid. I’ve gone through stores and bought them up.”
Bryce Gould is the current owner of Wyoming Taxi and has four drivers and three vehicles. Howlakowski and his wife Kayla help him with the business.
“I wanted to keep prices low so people had the money to do what they wanted to do,” Holakowski said. Wyoming Taxi has been operating for one year in January 2025.
Howlakowski said they’re starting a loyalty reward program, similar to the punch cards you get when you buy coffee. If you ride 10 times over three months starting in January, you’ll get a free ride.
He was an F-16 crew chief in the Air Force, serving in Clovis, New Mexico and after 9/11 in South Korea.
Wyoming Taxi has special rates for people with medical appointments.
“I want to start offering a discounted fare for them. I’m slowly learning what’s needed and how I can help. The WRTA and Senior Bus don’t run all the time. There are a lot of systems but not everybody can utilize them,” he said.
The Buffalo, New York native has found a home in Fremont County.
“We try the best we can to help everybody,” Holakowski said.
