Veteran of the Month: Keith Trouwborst
This month, the VFW is proud to honor Keith Trouwborst as their Veteran of the Month. A seasoned fighter pilot with a 27-year career spanning from Colorado Springs to Madrid, Trouwborst’s military service is nothing short of exemplary.
His journey, marked by challenges and triumphs, is a testament to the demanding yet rewarding nature of military life. A highlight of his career includes winning the coveted Top Gun award at Nellis Air Force Base in the mid-80s. Trouwborst’s contributions extended beyond the cockpit, as evidenced by his role in Desert Storm and his subsequent career as a defense contractor instructor.
“Military life is a great life if you’re prepared for the challenge,” Trouwborst said as he reflected on his years of service.
The VFW invites the community to learn more about Trouwborst’s remarkable story and to offer their gratitude for his service.

- Refreshments: Enjoy weekly drink specials, farm-fresh eggs for $3 a dozen, and bagged ice ($1 for non-members, free for members).
- Amenities: Pool, darts, and a community bulletin board are available for members and guests.
- Hall Rental: The post offers a hall for rent, perfect for meetings, events, or private gatherings. Non members can rent for $100 a day or $20 an hour.
- Community Involvement: The VFW is actively engaged in the community, participating in events like the Lander Pioneer Days Parade and supporting the American Legion’s dignified retirement ceremony.
