(Riverton, WY) – Rocky Bleier, a Vietnam War veteran and four-time Super Bowl champion with the Pittsburgh Steelers, will attend the Boys & Girls Club of Riverton’s 5th Annual Awards & Recognition Breakfast, benefiting youth in Riverton and the surrounding areas. Bleier will serve as the keynote speaker, sharing his powerful story of perseverance and service. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Fremont Center.
Bleier’s football career was nearly cut short when he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he sustained life-threatening injuries in combat. Despite being told he would never play football again, he defied the odds and fought his way back to the NFL, playing for 11 seasons with the Steelers and becoming a key player in their four Super Bowl victories. His journey from a wounded soldier to a champion athlete is a testament to resilience, hard work, and unwavering determination.
Beyond his accomplishments on the field, Bleier has dedicated his life to supporting veterans and first responders through organizations such as the Purple Heart Foundation, the Warriors to Citizens Foundation, and the National Flag Foundation. His commitment to helping others overcome adversity has made him a sought-after speaker, inspiring audiences nationwide with his message of hope and perseverance.
This year’s event will also honor Mary Axthelm for her outstanding contributions to the Riverton community. As the driving force behind bringing the Club to Riverton, Mary has played a key role in expanding opportunities for local youth. The event theme, “Leading the Way,” reflects the Club’s commitment to equipping young people with the skills and confidence to become strong leaders in their communities.
