Unseasonably warm temperatures have delayed ice production at the Lander Ice Skating Rink for the 2025–2026 winter season. At this time, the City of Lander has not been able to make ice, and there is currently no ice available to open the skating rink.
City staff continue to closely monitor weather conditions and temperatures to determine whether ice production will be possible later this season. Unfortunately, until sustained cold temperatures occur, ice creation and rink operations cannot begin.
The City understands that many residents and visitors look forward to skating each winter and appreciates the community’s patience as weather conditions remain outside of our control.
Updates regarding ice production and any potential opening will be shared as soon as new information becomes available.
Skating Rink Location and Information
For those new to the community, the skating rink is located at City Park on the Little League baseball field next to the Parks and Recreation building. When open, visitors may bring their own skates or rent skates at the admission window, and concessions are typically available.
