The highly anticipated opening of the Lander Ice Skating Rink has been delayed due to unseasonably warm temperatures. Despite the dedicated efforts of City staff, maintaining the ice surface has been challenging.
The rink typically opens when local students begin their Christmas Break, and this year, families had hoped to hit the ice starting Friday, December 20th. Unfortunately, the recent weather has hindered ice preparation, preventing the rink from opening as planned.
The City of Lander now aims to open the rink on Friday, December 27th, provided conditions improve. Updates on the opening day and time will be shared as soon as they are available.
Skating Rink Location and Information
For those new to the community, the Lander Ice Skating Rink is located at City Park, on the baseball field next to the Parks and Recreation building. Visitors are welcome to bring their own skates or rent them at the admission window. Concessions will also be available.

Skaters can now pay with credit or debit cards, as well as tap-to-pay options.
