(Jackson, WY) – Winter adventurers at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort had a wildlife scare last week as a pair of moose got very close to several humans, including a very young skier.
A couple of TikTok posts of the wildlife went viral, showing the moose charging after one skier on their way down the mountain and another getting within feet of a youngster on what appears to be a beginner slope.
Luckily it appears that the skiers remained unharmed in both of these incidents, but moose attacks are not uncommon in Teton County. In 2021, a man was injured in a moose attack while walking his dog near Wilson Elementary School and a woman was severely injured by a moose charge at the same ski resort in 2023.
Wildlife experts advise giving moose at least 50 feet of space when possible.
