Lander Medical Clinic & Western Family Care are excited to welcome Shirley Schatza, FNP, back to Western Family Care in Riverton! With 49 years of experience in medicine, including 15 years as a Nurse Practitioner, Shirley is a compassionate provider who truly values the relationships she builds with her patients. She is now accepting new patients and looks forward to reconnecting with her existing ones.
A Lifetime of Care
Shirley’s journey in healthcare began right after high school when she started working at a local hospital. That experience led her to nursing school, and over the years, her dedication to patient care grew. Fifteen years ago, she advanced her career by becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner at the Frontier School of Midwifery & Family Nursing.
Focusing on primary care for all ages, Shirley helps patients manage chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and COPD, as well as acute illnesses and women’s health services. She also performs lesion removals and routine gynecological exams.
For Shirley, the most rewarding part of her job is making a real difference in people’s lives. “I love my patients and the team we create together,” she says. Her approachable and personable bedside manner helps patients feel comfortable and heard.
She also believes in honesty and realistic goal-setting when it comes to health. “The best advice I’ve ever given a patient is to be honest with themselves and their providers about expectations and goals,” she shares.
Shirley has a deep connection to Western Family Care, where she got her first job as a Nurse Practitioner. The family-like atmosphere and supportive team make it the perfect place for her to continue providing care to the Riverton community.
Outside of work, Shirley enjoys camping, riding 4-wheelers, reading, quilting, walking, embroidering, and traveling.
