Western Heritage Lutheran Academy (WHLA) is a small, private, Christian school in Riverton, WY. They believe in hands-on and personable learning. From learning about chemical reactions through baking, to class presentations, small group discussions, writing, and more – WHLA has been busy so far this Fall!
Students participate in daily outdoor activities and have taken field trips to the Rendezvous ponds to fish, the raspberry farm, the pumpkin patch, and Black Bridge on Rails to Trails.
When asked what their favorite part of WHLA is, students responded with an array of answers:
“The flexibility in learning and the space to take breaks when needed;”
“The hands on learning instead of doing everything on computers or straight out of a book;”
“The discussions and freedom to explore a deeper meaning to life;”
“The camaraderie and feeling of being a tight knit group much like a family;”
“The school week being only 4 days with Friday off;”
“The ability to get the help I need when I’m struggling;”
“The small classroom size and ability to go at a pace that works for me;”
“The structure of knowing what work needs done and when and having flexibility within that to take breaks outside when needed;”
“Incentives to do well and feeling safe with the people I’m with everyday;”
“In person Instruction and structure of a classroom that is not just on computers all the time.”
“Having a small class size that allows me to get more one on one help when needed or move faster when we can.”
