Ahead of the upcoming school year, Western Heritage Lutheran Academy is re-branding as “Western Heritage Christian Academy.”
The change was made to better reflect the inclusive nature of the school, which does not teach any specific denomination of Christianity, rather, a Creation-based education that is led by Christ-following teachers.
As an institution of academic excellence in Fremont County, they offer a unique blend of Christian tradition and intellectual rigor for students in grades 6-12. It is a curriculum grounded in the trivium of liberal arts: grammar, logic, and rhetoric. This classical approach to learning cultivates critical thinking, effective communication, and a deep appreciation for knowledge.
Students take a hands-on approach to learning with multiple activities throughout the year. Standard teaching tools like dissection in Biology and Maker Space projects are included. This school year will feature a trip to Washington D.C. to learn about American History and Government.
Additionally, the academy offers dual-enrollment classes through Central Wyoming College (CWC) for its high school students, providing them with the opportunity to earn college credits while still in high school, further enhancing their academic readiness and prospects. Junior and Senior students have open class time, and the head teacher works with each student to build a college plan and helps enroll each student in CWC courses.
Extracurricular and community activities for students include the Riverton Girls Basketball team, Riverton Wrestling, WHCA Track, Dance, 4-H Shooting Sports, 4-H/FFA Fair projects, Riverton FFA. This year a WHCA Graduate has signed with the CWC Livestock Judging team!
