(Lander, WY) – The Lander Pioneer Museum is celebrating Christmas with it’s 2nd annual– “An Old Fashioned Christmas in the Pioneer Village.” The event is from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 14 and is free and open to the public.
Visitors will walk through the magical Christmas light filled Pioneer village. Some of the historic buildings will be open – there will be music and quiet reflection in the church. Hot chocolate will be served in the General Store by the Fremont County Pioneer Association, and kid’s Christmas crafts will be in the one room schoolhouse.
There will be many activities in the livery stable. Members of the Lander Valley High School band and choir will be performing Christmas favorites under the direction of Band Director Garth Moline.
The LVHS Culinary Arts students will make cookies and kids (and adults) can decorate, and eat cookies. There will be kid’s games, Christmas Bingo and an appearance by a very special guest from the North Pole.
Guests should dress warmly since it will be cold, and even the livery stable will be on the cool side.
The Christmas lights are part of each county museum’s “I Light History” campaign to raise money to decorate each museum for the holidays. The fund raising is being done by the Wind River Culture Foundation for the museums. The Lander Museum was brightly lit last year, and even more lights and holiday décor have been added for this year.
“We are hoping to make this a real Christmas destination with a spectacular holiday light show as we move forward,” said Museum curator Randy Wise.
