WYO-131
The longest race of the event – the WYO-131 – begins at 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, sending riders on “a legendary test of endurance through Wyoming’s rugged backcountry,” according to the event website.
“You’ll grind across vast sagebrush plateaus, weave through towering hoodoos, and roll past historic mining towns frozen in time,” the description states. “Then, it’s up into subalpine terrain, stacking up 10,000 feet of vert before dropping into a wicked, white-knuckle descent through the jaw-dropping Sinks Canyon State Park. This isn’t just a ride—it’s Type-2 fun at its finest. Only the toughest will finish. Are you in?”
Cut-off times and locations are scheduled throughout the 131-mile route, including one at noon at mile 60 (Wyoming Highway 789), another at 4 p.m. at mile 90 (Miner’s Grubstake/Atlantic City), and a third at 5:45 p.m. at mile 103.7 (Louis Lake Resort).
There are also five aid stations along the route, and a mile-90 shuttle pickup will be available at 4 p.m.
The course record for the 131-mile race is 7 hours and 4 minutes.
Other races
The 75-mile race begins at 7 a.m., offering a route that’s described as “all gas, no guesswork.”
“(This is) a fast, flowy and ridiculously fun ride that keeps you on your toes,” the website says. “Expect a perfect mix of climbs to test your legs, cruisy sections to catch your breath, and flats where you can drop the hammer. The best part? Top-tier gravel roads (no sketchy two-track here!) and 5-star panoramic views that make every mile worth it.”
There are three aid stations along the 75-mile route.
E-bikes are welcome for the 45-mile race, which starts at 8 a.m. and is best for riders who are new to gravel but are “ready to dip their tires into the adventure” and “see why gravel riding is the best kind of fun on two wheels,” the website says.
“This 50/50 gravel-paved route serves up rolling hills, wide-open skies, and 5-star views at every turn,” the description states. “Expect just the right amount of challenge to keep things exciting—without the suffer-fest.”
There is one aid station along the 45-mile route.
The 13-mile race, beginning at 8:30 a.m., is billed as the “ultimate feel-good ride.”
“This paved, all-bikes-welcome route is perfect for anyone looking to soak in the vibes and have a blast,” the description states. “Got an e-bike? Bring it! We’ve got a dedicated e-bike division so you can cruise in style.”
The 13-mile route is not marked, and riders are responsible for their own navigation.
Children ages 2-10 are invited to participate in the WYO-131 Push & Pedal Kid’s Race beginning at 4 p.m.
Push & Pedal registration is free and includes race entry, number plate, a kids only aid station, and finisher medal.
The course closes at 8 p.m.
