#WhatsHappening: Wyoming Firefighters Hall of Fame induction, Fallen Firefighters Memorial on Aug. 16

(Riverton, WY) – Carl Jungck of the Newcastle Volunteer Fire Department and Wyoming State Forestry Division will be posthumously inducted into the Wyoming Firefighters Hall of Fame at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Wyoming Fire Academy, 2500 Academy Court in Riverton.

The ceremony is being held in conjunction with the Wyoming Fallen Firefighters Memorial, which will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, in the same location. 

Hall of Fame

The purpose of the Wyoming Fire Service Hall of Fame is recognize the accomplishments and achievements of all first responders from a variety of response agencies or departments who, in their service to the community and citizens of Wyoming, have excelled in their dedication and service, the Wyoming State Fire Marshal’s Office said in a press release this week. 

“The Wyoming Fire Service has some deeply rooted traditions – honor, pride, integrity, valor to name a few,” the press release states. “With these ideals in mind, the Wyoming State Fire Marshal’s Office created the Wyoming Firefighters Hall of Fame. Since 2019 fire departments and fire service organizations have submitted nominations for this honor and recognition.”

Nominations are reviewed by an independent committee, the press release states, and applications “must prove that the firefighter has significantly contributed to the Wyoming Fire Service and to the citizens of the State of Wyoming.”

“Those who are nominated and approved must have had an impact beyond the community they served, and their influence must have been recognized statewide,” the press release states. “This recognition is proven and shown to be a continuing involvement that is a long-lasting benefit to our state and the Wyoming Fire Service. …

“The Wyoming Fire Service and the State of Wyoming is honored to have (Jungck) inducted posthumously into the Wyoming Firefighters Hall of Fame.”
