(Casper, WY) – Athletes and teams from around the state have been enthusiastically training for the State Fall Tournament in Casper from Wednesday, October 8 through Friday, October 10, hosted by Special Olympics Wyoming. The tournament will feature Bocce, Bowling, Cycling, and Soccer competitions.
Events are scheduled in various Casper locations throughout the three-day event. Locations include El Marko Lanes, Natrona County High School, Boomtown Blast, North Casper Soccer Fields, Edness Kimball Wilkins State Park, Troopers Bingo, and the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds.
The community is also invited to support Local Law Enforcement as they carry the Special Olympics Wyoming “Flame of Hope” in the Casper leg of the Wyoming Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR). Law enforcement personnel from local, county, state, and federal agencies throughout the state have been carrying the “Flame of Hope” on different legs of the Wyoming LETR to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Wyoming athletes. The Casper leg will take place on Wednesday, October 8 with the torch arriving at the Opening Ceremony approximately at 4:45 pm at the entrance of Natrona County High School (930 S Elm St).
The Fall Tournament Opening Ceremony will be held in the Natrona County High School gymnasium on Wednesday, October 8 at 6:30 pm. This event includes speeches from athletes, the recitation of the athlete, coach and official oaths, and the parade of champions. This is a free event and open to the public; all are encouraged to come and cheer on our athletes!
Competition will kick off on Thursday, October 9, and will conclude on Friday, October 10, with soccer, bocce, and singles and doubles bowling. The public is invited to these competitions to cheer on Special Olympics Wyoming athletes and their Unified Sports® partners from across the state. Volunteers are the backbone of Special Olympics Wyoming and play a significant role in providing quality events to athletes. Each fall, Special Olympics Wyoming depends on the generosity of Casper and the surrounding communities to engage in this state-wide competition event by volunteering a portion of their time to ensure that these athletes, Unified Sports® partners, coaches, friends, family and volunteers visiting Casper from throughout Wyoming experience a first-rate, memory making event.
