(Fremont County, WY) – A July 5 rollover crash on US 26 / WY 789 resulted in one fatality and one injury, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol preliminary report posted on July 9.
The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Wyoming resident Merry Teakell.
The one-vehicle crash occurred around 8:20 AM.
According to the report narrative, Teakell was the passenger in a vehicle traveling northbound on Wyoming 789 at approximately mile marker 108.5, when it left the roadway to the right. The vehicle was driving in the ditch when it came to a driveway approach, hit the approach, went over the driveway, and continued back into the ditch.
The vehicle continued driving in the ditch and made an overcorrecting left turn to re-enter the highway. The vehicle entered a passenger-side slide, tripped, and rolled. During the roll, both occupants were ejected from the vehicle.
The report states that no seat belt was in use, and road/weather conditions were dry and clear; no possible contributing factor was listed.
There have been 51 fatalities on Wyoming roadways to date in 2026.
