(Natrona County, WY) – A reported multi-vehicle crash occuring on June 26 on US 20/26 between Casper and Shoshoni resulted in two fatalities and eight injuries, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol preliminary report released this week.
The deceased have been identified as 74-year-old James Cox and 79-year-old Susan Cox from Colorado.
The report narrative states that a tanker commercial combination was westbound on US 20-26 near milepost 58.3, when the driver failed to stop for queued traffic that was stopped and waiting to enter a one-lane construction zone. The commercial combination then impacted seven vehicles.
The report states that driver inattention was listed a possible contributing factor, and that seat belts were in use.
There have been 47 fatalities on Wyoming roadways to date in 2026.
